Management Biography
Blueline Publishing is owned by Myrna James Yoo, who brings in a team of nationally-experienced and accomplished professionals from all areas of publishing according to each client's needs.
Myrna began her publishing career in 1990 based in Chicago, selling advertising for national magazines including USA Weekend/Gannett (the national Sunday magazine with over 25 million circulation and a half-million dollar page rate), and Parenting Magazine/Time Warner (an independent launch that was sold to Time Warner). National trade magazine experience includes Modern Healthcare/Crain Communications, the weekly news magazine for the healthcare industry, where she learned of the absolute line that must exist between advertising and editorial to maintain editorial integrity.
Prior to moving to Colorado, Myrna took an 18-month sabbatical, traveling the world solo and publishing her journey on a live weblog, www.goglobalgirl.com. She was contacted by the New York Times during this time for a story regarding the live site, and the ease of traveling with the internet. She was published in Student Travels Magazine, and on various web travelogues, including Whispers Online Magazine for Women. She found herself rounding up cattle via helicopter on an Outback Australian Cattle Station, had close calls with leeches during the monsoon in Nepal, lived in caves and tree-houses in Turkey, debated politics with a Frenchman of her father's generation, and sang “Summertime” all over the world. She also did two Habitat for Humanity Global Village volunteer trips.
A native of Kansas, Myrna graduated from the Arts and Sciences Honors Program at Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English, and minors in Sociology and Women's Studies. She was selected upon graduating to join the newly-created and much-publicized enrollment management team as an Admissions Representative, where for 3 years she recruited high schools students to further their education at K-State.
Myrna has served on the Board of Directors for Women for Education [ www.womenforeducation.org ], Women Business Executives [ www.wbexecutives.org ], Denver Future Forum, The Odyssey Institute [ www.odyssey-institute.org ] and Metro Volunteers' former Impact Program [ www.metrovolunteers.org ]. She is a member of the Independent Press Association. |
